Bill Gates: Software is doing vision and so, you know, imagine a game machine where you’re just going to pick up the bat and swing it or the tennis racket and swing it.
Walt: We have one of those.
Kara: Yeah. Wii.
Bill Gates: No, that’s not it. You can’t pick up your tennis racket. And swing it.
Bill Gates: You can’t sit there with your friends and do those natural things. That’s a 3D positional device. This is video recognition.

Ha ha. I guess Gates doesn't keep up on the gaming scene. Hopefully he's delegated XBox management to someone else.
ReplyDeleteI must admit, his idea about picking up the tennis racket is a great one.
Yeah I know what it is ol' William was talking about, picking up an actual tennis racket and playing a virtual game of tennis by swinging it. The fact of the matter is, the Wiimote can do everything swinging a real tennis racket can do aside from forcing you to buy an actual tennis racket. I think what he is wanting to do would fit better in a tennis or golf shop where you can test out a racket or club to see if the weight and design would fit your preferences. Not sure if it's a good idea for home entertainment.
